MS. PAT'S FINAL JOURNEY

  • The Rev. Cheryl Moore Adamson, a former chaplin with Mercy Hospice and friend of Pat Forister, reads bible scriptures during Pat's memorial service on the Tuesday after she died. Pat's service was held at St. John Church of God in the Sandridge community of Conway.  Pat helped many families in the community, including the family of the church's reverend Laura B. Spain. Pat was the hopice nurse for the reverend's husband Simon J. Spain who died in December of 2004.
  • Cassie helps Pat to her bedroom during the final stages of Pat's battle with colon cancer. Cassie took a leave of absence from her job as a lab technician to help her mother throught the process of dying.
  • On the back porch of her mother's home in Conway, Cassie holds her hands in prayer as she takes a break from duties as primary caregiver to her mother Pat. {quote}I just told mom she could let go{quote}, said Jamerson. {quote}I promised her I would watch after everybody and it was okay to stop fighting.{quote}
  • Cassie helps Pat with a drink of coke as Pat's 4-year-old dachshund Gretel grooms the 14-year-old Wrinkles at Pat's home in Conway.
  • Cassie Jamerson kisses her mother Pat Forister on the afternoon before Forister died of colon cancer at Pat's home in Conway.  A nurse with Mercy Hospice in Conway, Forister reluctantly embraced the dying process and coached her family to celebrate her life with happiness during the final stages of  life.
  • Family, friends and co-workers of Mercy Hospice, share humorous stories about Pat in a crowded bedroom on the afternoon before she died of Colon Cancer.{quote}She would of told us as we sit here,{quote} said friend J.J.   • On the day after their mother died, Cassie comforts her brother Mike Snelson while the family make arrangements for Pat's memorial service.
